If we lose power, we won't be around. If we have power, we're gonna play and enjoy our 'long weekend'.

Let you know what happens after Hurricane Ike plays havoc with us.

So far, we're still powered. 1:50 pm. Right now they're saying eye landfall in Galveston at 2 am. We've got clouds and a breeze, but nothing else so far...right here at our house. Galveston water is very high, already overwashing the seawall. Watched an old pier get washed out.

All are fine. House has taken light damage. No power for a bit but otherwise fine.

We lived! More than 30 hours without power (went out at 3 am, just shortly after the eye hit land), and we're miserable, hot, sore, tired and exhausted, but we lived. Like CC gratefully posted for us, we made off better than many of our neighbors, but the damage is pretty spooky all over.

It'll be a lot more bearable with the A/C and fridge and ability to cook on more than charcoal, just getting life back to 'normal'.
